About Scott

Scotty was a sculptor and an artist from an early age.  He first showed his extraordinary talent by making a scorpion out of Duplos while others his age were happily building towers.  In the afterschool program at King Elementary School (KingCare) Scotty was known as the kid who could build absolutely anything out of Legos.

Scotty was quite inventive and intent on doing things his own way.  He was not a big fan of formal education, and often frustrated even art teachers because their assignments were not what he wanted to create.  If the assignment was to create a place setting, for example, he would create one with skulls, dripping blood and bones – which was totally cool – but not necessarily what the teacher was looking for.

His favorite medium to sculpt with was polymer clay and he would often bring a tackle box with an assortment of clay to social events, so that he could create if the mood was right.  He would take requests and whip up a quick creation (a unicorn, a character from DragonballZ, etc.) for anyone who requested one.

As he got older, he became a fan of video games and his very favorite was League of Legends where he often played the character Heimerdinger.  In the winter of 2023, he put quite a bit of time into playing League and was pleased to reach the diamond level.  He would often sculpt while at the computer, therefore many of our keyboards are adorned with bits of clay.

Scotty spent quite a bit of time coming up with and creating a unique board game.  It featured elaborate sculpted characters that he was constantly revising and refining.  Each faction in the game was represented by an element (such as electricity, fire, plants, blood) and you will see some of those characters depicted in the sculptures on the site.  We hope that some friends of Scotty’s will be able to complete the game in Scotty’s memory.

Scotty always followed his own path.  Other people’s ideas of “should” meant very little to Scotty.  He did things exactly the way he wanted.  Unfortunately, Scotty had an illness that resulted in his death on August 29, 2023. His mental illness – bi-polar depression – became increasingly more serious until he could no longer tolerate the pain. All of us did everything we could to help alleviate his pain, to the extent we could, and to provide support to him.

This website is a way that we can remember Scotty and his talent.  There are approximately 800 sculptures, that he created throughout his life.  We think it would make him happy to have people enjoying his art, so please look around and let us know which pieces resonate with you. We hope to eventually find a way to exhibit the sculptures because they are even more impressive in person then in the photos.
